Since 2023, the Ahlen Art Museum has been offering full-day intensive seminars as part of the Museum Studies program at the University of Bonn. As an interdisciplinary supplementary program, these seminars are designed to provide master’s students with insights into practical museum work. Through engagement with the current exhibition and personal interaction with the museum’s research staff, students can familiarize themselves with key areas of museum work—curation, collection management, exhibition management, press and public relations, and digital communication. The program focuses on issues of program development, organization, exhibition design, and communication, as well as the museum’s self-concept and its conceptual development. The team consistently finds the exchange with the students to be enriching.
