WORKSHOP
FOR ADULTS
Organized disorder
Sat, 30/05/26, 3–6 pm
In this creative workshop, participants will explore the exciting interplay between spontaneity and structure and create unique works of art that captivate with their contrast.
After an inspiring tour of the exhibition, during which we’ll draw inspiration from the works on display, we’ll get to work together in the art studio. Using acrylic paint and a squeegee, we’ll first create impulsive color patterns and vibrant gradients through a dynamic dragging technique. In a second step, we’ll give this creative chaos a new form: the resulting areas of color will be cut into geometric shapes and rearranged. This creates a fascinating interplay of order and chaos.
This deliberate shift in techniques keeps us alert and curious throughout the creative process. A fascinating experience in which free, spontaneous gestures and the precise consideration of weight and proportions complement each other. In a relaxed atmosphere, we create modern, one-of-a-kind pieces that perfectly balance the tension between freedom and order!
Fee: 30 euros (including admission and materials)

Opening "Tina Blau – Eine Impressionistin aus Wien"
Sat, 11/07/26, 4–7 pm
Tina Blau was not only a leading figure of European modernism and a pioneer of Austrian plein air painting; she also paved the way for women in
the art world of the 19th century. Although highly successful during her lifetime and represented at international exhibitions, she is virtually unknown outside her homeland today. The Kunstmuseum Ahlen, in cooperation with the Museum Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, is presenting the first museum exhibition of the painter’s work in Germany. Works from the major Viennese museums as well as from private collections offer the opportunity to discover a magnificent painter who charted an extraordinary path. With artistic expertise, self-confidence, and an innovative approach, she knew how to hold her own in a field that was difficult for women. As a teacher in Munich and Vienna, she shaped young female artists and advocated for the professionalization of artistic training opportunities for women.
In dialogue with Tina Blau’s airy, light-filled paintings, Rosa M Hessling presents non-representational, vibrantly colored works that offer intense visual experiences. Her engagement with nature connects her across the centuries with her colleague from Vienna. For Rosa M Hessling, light and its unique qualities are central to her work.

of collecting
with Franziska Straubinger
Thu, 11/06/26, 19 Uhr
What motivates people to collect art? In our guided dialogue with collection curator Franziska Straubinger, M.A., through the current exhibition, we’ll explore these very questions. Join us on a personal journey through works of international contemporary art from after 1945 and discover how a spark of enthusiasm grew into an impressive life’s work. Together, we’ll discuss what happens when artworks move from private homes to a museum. We cordially invite you to pull back the curtain on art history, bring your own viewing habits to the table, and discover entirely new, personal perspectives on the works through shared conversation.
