Derya Yıldırım
in concert

Gustav-Lübcke-Museum, Hamm

Sat, 14/02/26, 19 Uhr

Internationally renowned multi-instrumentalist and singer Derya Yıldırım builds musical bridges between the past, present, and future. For Yıldırım, folk music is not nostalgia, but a living movement and expression—a mirror of society. Raised in a musical family with a tradition of bağlama music, Yıldırım later studied at music colleges and is now a lecturer. With her band Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek, she combines Anatolian music with global forms of expression. In her solo concerts, however, she returns to the essence: voice and bağlama.

Her music does not reinterpret folk songs, but allows them to live on beyond fixed genre boundaries. She addresses themes of longing, resistance, migration, and identity. A concert with Derya Yıldırım is a powerful dialogue between the past, present, and future—sometimes delicate and melancholic, sometimes rousing.

Location: Gustav Lübcke Museum, Hamm (cooperation partner).

Admission: 15/12 euros.

Opening
 "Aus Leidenschaft.
Die Sammlung Maximilian
und Agathe Weishaupt zu Gast"

Sat, 21/03/25, 4–7 pm

The exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Ahlen, developed in collaboration with Agathe Weishaupt, offers a rare opportunity to view a private collection of impressive quality that has rarely been shown in public. Thematic rooms, such as those devoted to manifestations of light, art of the 1960s, or the principle of folds, alternate with artist rooms, and color-intensive works with meditative, austere paintings. New discoveries meet stars of the art scene. Sculptors fascinate with their precise minimalism, while graphic and sculptural works in black and white represent simplicity and variety. For the first time, works by Maximilian Weishaupt, who died in 2018, are also on display. Weishaupt was not only a passionate collector, but also explored spaces, geometric bodies, and surfaces in his art.

The exhibition represents the diversity of artistic means of expression and the essential questions of contemporary art. It is an invitation to intense perceptual experiences—to experience the rare quality of silence, to practice concentration, and to feel beauty.
