Hellweg Konkret

Member of the exhibition association
on Concrete Art

In 2014, nine institutions in the Hellweg cultural region and Arnsberg joined forces for the first time to realize a joint exhibition project on concrete art. This focused on an artistic movement that had previously received little attention in the regional exhibition scene, but was and is of great importance in local artistic practice and collections. Since then, the Kunstmuseum Ahlen has continuously participated in all Hellweg Konkret projects.

Hellweg Konkret focuses on art that concentrates on its elementary means of expression such as line, color, surface, volume and space. It is based on the idea of giving aesthetic expression to intellectual content. The simplicity of the mostly geometric formal language reveals an astonishing range of variations that can be explored with the senses.
Hellweg Konkret networks and connects cultural institutions along the Hellweg. The exhibitions, an extensive accompanying program and barrier-free offers with guided tours, workshops, concerts, readings, symposia and bicycle tours bring people together and provide a broad audience with access to concrete art.

Project partners are: the Ahlen Art Museum, the Carlernst Kürten Foundation/City of Unna, the Gustav Lübcke Museum/Hamm, Raum Schroth/ Soest, Museum Haus Opherdicke, Museum Schloss Cappenberg, Westfälische Salzwelten, Maximilianpark/Hamm, hbk am Maximilianpark / Hamm, Kloster Wedinghausen/City of Arnsberg
